PRP
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a substance shown to promote healing when injected. Plasma is a component of blood that contains special proteins that help your blood to clot and proteins that support cell growth. PRP is injected into the scalp to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss, particularly in androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness) and traction alopecia (caused by pulling edges of hair along hairline too tightly). It is also beneficial when added to skin rejuvenation procedures, such as microneedling.
The Process…
The process is relatively low risk and simple. It involves drawing a tube of your own blood. A machine is used to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the the rest of the blood. The area being treated is numbed prior to using a needle to inject PRP.
